British synthesizer player, sound designer and composer Richard Barbieri has been a noteworthy figure in progressive and art rock circles since his mid-'70s debut as a member of new wave pioneers Japan. His innovative keyboard textures and synthesizer programming played a significant role in shaping the group's sound, and established Barbieri as a sought-after collaborator.
Since Japan's 1982 breakup, Barbieri continued to collaborate with his ex-bandmates Steve Jansen and Mick Karn on numerous projects, as well as albums with Tim Bowness (No -Man) and Steve Hogarth (Marillion) He has been a member of the twice Grammy nominated progressive rock band Porcupine Tree since 1993.
Richard has been heavily involved in the production of these projects since the early days. He has recently completed recording his third solo album for Kscope Records.
